How should a compression T-shirt fit? An Athflex Edge guide
A compression T-shirt should follow your shape without making ordinary movements awkward. Athflex Edge is designed for a close fit, so it will feel different from a regular gym tee. The useful question is whether the size lets you move comfortably through your own workout.
This guide is for the Athflex Edge compression T-shirt. Check the product page’s current size chart before ordering. The advice below helps you assess the fit; it does not replace that chart.

Start with your measurements
Use a soft tape around the fullest part of your chest, keeping it level across your back. Stand naturally and avoid pulling the tape tight. Then compare your measurement with the Size Chart on the Edge product page. If the chart asks for another measurement, take that measurement in the way shown there too.
Do not choose a size from a model’s height alone. The Black Edge page shows a model who is 5'7" and wears M, but height does not tell you their chest measurement or preferred fit. The chart is the better starting point.
What to check when you try it on
Edge has a compression cut and four-way stretch. It is made from 90% polyester and 10% spandex. Those details explain why the shirt sits close to the body and has give as you move; they do not tell you how a particular size will feel on your frame.
Try the shirt on with the movements you actually train in. Reach overhead, bring your arms forward, and bend at the waist. Notice whether the shoulder seams sit where you expect, whether the underarms feel comfortable, and whether the hem stays where you want it. Check the front, side and back in a mirror. If you keep adjusting the shirt between movements, compare it with another size before deciding.
Comfort matters more than forcing a tighter look. A close fit should still let you breathe and move normally. If the shirt causes discomfort, pinches at the underarm, or limits a movement you need for training, try a different size or cut.
If you are between sizes
Compare both adjacent sizes on the current Edge chart. Think about where you want the shirt to sit closely and where you need room to move. We have not published verified garment measurements or a line-specific rule for choosing up or down between sizes, so there is no honest one-size-fits-all answer here. If you cannot try both, ask Athflex for the garment measurements of the sizes you are considering before ordering.
Choose the fit you want
Compression is only one option. If you want a less body-hugging top, look at the other cuts in Athflex men’s gym T-shirts. If a close fit is what you want, browse the compression range, then check the chart and product details for the exact style and colour you choose. Fit may differ between product lines; do not assume one Edge size transfers unchanged to another line.
Quick answers
Should an Edge compression T-shirt feel tight?
It is designed to fit close to the body. It should still let you breathe comfortably and complete your normal movements. Use the product chart and a try-on check to judge the size.
Can I use my usual T-shirt size?
Use it as a reference, then check your measurements against the current Edge chart. A regular tee and a compression tee are cut differently.
Will Edge and other Athflex compression lines fit the same?
Do not assume they will. Check each product’s size chart and details before buying. Athflex has not supplied a verified line-by-line garment measurement comparison for this guide.
